Agriculture Research Registry
Every research project across NARO and its institutes, in one searchable home.
The problem
Agricultural research in Uganda is delivered by NARO HQ plus 14 stock farms and ranches, 3 zonal institutes (NaRL, MUZARDI, NaCRRI), universities, and private research labs. No central public registry shows what research has been funded, what is in progress, and what conclusions have been reached. Funders duplicate work, farmers cannot find evidence, and NDPIV Agro-Industrialisation yield-improvement targets (coffee 8.1m → 13.5m bags, milk 3.85 → 4.8bn L, tea 39,861 → 49,009 MT, beef 230,746 → 278,447 MT) cannot be traced back to research investment.
The solution
A national Agriculture Research Registry that catalogues every active and completed research project across NARO and its zonal institutes, universities, and private labs. Each project carries NDPIV priority alignment, indicators, budget, completion status, publications, and a citation graph linking related projects. Public read views for farmers, policymakers, and funders; restricted edit access for research institutes. Multi-language UI (English + Luganda + Runyankole-Rukiga).
